Spas resorts offer a range of services including massages, aromatherapy, facials and body treatments, some of which can be provided in your room or in a quiet, private cabana. Most spas have signature treatments that incorporate plants or herbs indigenous to Mexico, and you'll also often find treatments geared toward men, couples and expectant mothers. Spas often include workout facilities, a sauna or steam room and a beauty salon.
Some tips for visiting a spa: Arrive at least 15 minutes before your scheduled appointment. You will need to fill out some paperwork, and a staff member may give you a brief tour of the changing rooms, relaxation areas and other facilities. Wear loose, comfortable clothing, and leave jewelry and watches in your room, along with cell phones and pagers. During massages, feel free to tell the therapist if the pressure is too light or too hard. In the hours following your treatment, drink plenty of water and limit alcohol consumption.
